Witchery, Spellcrafting, and Spiritual Explorations
I first came to witchcraft during a difficult time in my life. I was miles away from my family and friends, in a long distance relationship with my partner for the first time (we would eventually spend 3.5 years apart), and just beginning my PhD. I was looking for a home. My grandmother's tarot cards, my grandfather's childhood in Appalachia, and my own childhood in rural Kentucky all inform my personal brand of witchcraft; I leaned on my ancestors and background as I carved out the home I was looking for. I also brought in some personal touches: my academic background in feminism, queer theory, postcolonialism, and Caribbean and Latin American literature and performance art. I now understand my power, accept my responsibilities, honor my matron, and craft a spirituality that I can truly call my home and my own. You'll find more blog posts about my witchery and spirituality under the "Witchery & Spirituality" tab in the Blog!
